So I’ve decided to join in on Top Ten Tuesday! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl where each week there’s a topic, and you come up with a top ten list that corresponds to that topic! I can’t promise to do this every week since I don’t always have answers to the prompts, but I’m going to try to join in on the topics when I can!
This week’s topic is Best Character Names!
1. Celaena Sardothien from Throne of Glass
I actually really love most of the names from Throne of Glass. I think they’re unusual in that typical fantasy way but still really pretty without being keyboard-smash-y at all. Celaena Sardothien is one of my favorite character names because it just sounds cool and badass and emits that sense of notoriety that goes perfectly with her character.
2. Lazlo Strange from Strange the Dreamer
Everything about Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor is whimsical and wonderful, including the main character’s name. Lazlo Strange is just so fitting for his character—it’s unique and strange (lol) but also kind of dreamy, and I really love it.
3. Mia Corvere from Nevernight
I absolutely love the last name Corvere, like really really love it—I’m not entirely sure why besides the fact that I think it just sounds so cool and badass. But what’s also really neat is that the Corvus is the scientific name for crow, and crows are a common motif throughout the book.
4. Feyre Archeron from A Court of Thorns and Roses
I think Feyre is such a pretty name—it’s actually an old English name meaning beautiful!
5. Prince Carden from The Cruel Prince
I think Carden’s name is so perfect for him. It’s kind of harsh, but also sort of elegant, which is literally his whole character. I love him and his name.
6. Audrey Rose Wadsworth from Stalking Jack the Ripper
I think the name Audrey Rose Wadsworth is so befitting of her character. It’s very proper, but also very unique. And Wadsworth just makes me think of detectives.
7. Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows
It’s getting pretty hard to explain my reasoning behind all these names, but Kaz Brekker is yet another example of a name that I think fits the character perfectly.
8. Maven Calore from Red Queen
Similar to Prince Carden, I think Maven’s name is so perfect for him. I absolutely adore him, but so far I’ve only read the first two books of the series. I’m currently rereading them so I can continue with the next books, and am really excited to get more of Maven.
9. Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games
I remember the first time reading The Hunger Games really loving Katniss’ name. It fits in with the whole feel of the world and other character names but also really stood out to me, and had that certain ring to it that was really appealing.
10. Percy Jackson from Percy Jackson and the Olympians
I couldn’t make a list of my favorite names and not put Percy on it. Percy Jackson is such an iconic character and his name is recognized so widely at this point. It’s also the perfect mix of modern and mythological, plus these books have so much sentimental value for me that this name means a lot as well.
So there was my Top Ten Tuesday for this week! Comment down below if you have your own list so I can check it out, and let me know some of your favorite character names!
