Hi! I’m Cailin, a 16-year-old lover of reading and writing living in New York. I love books (obviously), mainly of the young adult fantasy variety, but I also enjoy sci-fi and the occasional contemporary. I’m currently a high school junior and dream of going to college in or near the city where I’ll be able to intern at a publishing house and eventually work as an editor (for YA books, of course!). I spend most of my time reading and try to spend my time writing (does thinking about writing count??), but aside from that, you’ll probably find me working on either schoolwork or this blog (but let’s be real–I’m probably reading).
Some more about me (in case you were wondering):
My all-time favorite author is Sarah J. Maas. I was actually lucky enough to meet her on her ACOWAR tour last May. She is such a wonderful, beautiful, talented human being and her compassion, determination, and drive serve as an inspiration to me every day. The Throne of Glass and ACOTAR series have shaped me both as a reader and a (hopeful) writer, and my love for her characters and the worlds she has created is unending.
Some other favorite authors of mine include Jay Kristoff, Leigh Bardugo, Derek Landy, Rick Riordan, and John Green. If you didn’t know, three out of those five write deliciously dark fantasies, though some are considerably darker than others (*cough Nevernight cough*)
Music is also a substantial part of my life. Some of my favorite artists include Panic! at the Disco (I was also lucky enough to see Brendon Urie in concert on his Death of A Bachelor tour), Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd, & The Neighbourhood.
I’m an INTJ, which basically means I’m an overly-ambitious walking contradiction, and most likely a Slytherin. My Hogwarts house has been the cause of many an identity crisis for me because I just don’t know if I’m Slytherin or Ravenclaw (I’ve been sorted into each multiple times and identify a lot with both), so for now, I identify as Slytherclaw.
Some other favorite things of mine include rainy days, forests (especially if they’re enchanted), autumn, sunrises and sunsets, stationary, and Star Wars.
ABOUT THE BLOG
I created Rose Petal Pages as a way to express my love for all things bookish, as well as for a way to connect with others who are just as passionate about books and reading as I am. This blog will be primarily book related, but some of my other interests *might* make appearances as well, so stay tuned…
Thanks for stopping by!
I also wanted to mention that a lot of my floral graphics are from Angie Makes–she has so many beautiful designs so if you’re starting a blog, be sure to check her out!
